Many island resorts in the world which claim to be paradise. The Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa on Silhouette Island is one of the few getting close. I spent a few beautiful days at the Hilton Labriz during our recent Seychelles holidays.

Why Choose Silhouette Island For Your Seychelles Holidays?

Silhouette Island is the third largest island in the Seychelles, an archipelago of 115 islands off the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean. It is only 20 km northwest of Mahé, the main island in the Seychelles, making it easy to get there by boat or helicopter.

5 Reasons to Choose Silhouette Island for Your Seychelles Holidays:

1. There is only one resort on Silhouette Island and that’s the Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa. This means Hilton Labriz guests have the entire island of 20.1 km² for themselves. With a local population of fewer than 200 people, who mostly work at the resort, it very much has a private island resort feeling to it.

2. More than 93% of Silhouette Island is a protected area, forming the Silhouette National Park. It is a nature lover’s dream while at the same time playing an important role in nature conservation.

“Silhouette is known for its virgin and untouched forest and this deserves formal protection. At least 8 species of plants, one endemic family of rare frogs and other biodiversity thrive on Silhouette.” – Former Seychelles President James Michel.

3. Silhouette Island does not only protect endangered species like the sheath-tailed bat on land, but its Marine National Park of 30.45 km² looks after its sea life. Encircled by a coral reef, this Seychelles Beach Resort is perfect for snorkeling, diving, and fishing. Sometimes all you have to do is walk into the water to see beautiful fish swimming around you!

4. There are no roads or cars on Silhouette Island. The only paths are footpaths and the only “cars” the Hilton Labriz golf carts. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is the Seychelles beach resort to come to.

5. Dinosaurs and pirates once roamed rainforest of Silhouette Island. According to Island Biodiversity, the remains of the flora and fauna that coexisted with the dinosaurs are still clinging to Silhouette’s mountain tops. Later, pirates used the island as a base from which to raid merchant ships.

Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa

Now that you know why you should come to Silhouette Island, it seems almost unnecessary to talk about the Hilton Labriz Seychelles beach resort. It must be a winner, given its location and status as the only resort on the island, mustn’t it?

While the perfect setting is a given blessing, the quality of the accommodation, service, food, and activities are up to the people at the Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa. Let’s see how they are:

Getting to Hilton Labriz – Arrival and Welcome

There are 2 main transport options to get to the Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa.

  • Ferry – A 45-minute boat trip operated by the resort from their private jetty in Bel Ombre on Mahé Island. There is a hotel check-in desk on the jetty where you are already checked in to your room. With that done and dusted, your Seychelles holidays can start immediately after setting foot on Silhouette Island.

  • Helicopter – A scenic 15-minute helicopter ride from Seychelles International Airport. This option does require a big budget though.

The people at Hilton Labriz certainly try their best to make a good impression at the start of your Seychelles holidays. Waving staff members welcomed us with cold towels when we got off the boat at Silhouette Island. After freshening up, no time is wasted to whisk you off to your room in a golf cart.

Take note: The only thing the Hilton Labriz has no control over is the weather. Rainy season is usually between December and mid February.

Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa Rooms Or Villas

You’ll understand why this Seychelles beach resort prefers to talk about their rooms as villas once you see them. We stayed at a Deluxe Beachfront Pool Villa but I would honestly have been happy in any one of the villas. Here is a quick rundown of where you can get some well-deserved rest and relaxation on your Seychelles holidays.

Garden Villas – Set in a lush garden landscape, these villas have spectacular views of the mist-enshrouded Mount Dauban, Silhouette’s highest mountain at 751 m. The rooms with bathrooms are enormous (hence rightly called a villa).  Each one has a private garden shower while you can also enjoy nature more appropriately dressed from your terrace.

Beachfront Villas With Or Without Plunge Pools – With a jungle at your back and a pristine beach in front of you, these villas are perfectly placed to watch the sunset over the ocean from your private terrace.

Deluxe Hillside or Beachfront Pool Villas – You won’t know where your living space ends and where the beach starts if you’re lucky enough to stay in one of these. You’ll also don’t want your Seychelles holidays to end, ever!

Presidential Villa – How does a luxurious villa set on a hill, with two en suite bedrooms, a swimming pool, a butler, and exclusive beach access sound? This, in a nutshell, is what the Presidential Villa is all about.

 Restaurants at the Hilton Labriz

No Seychelles beach resort is worth going to if it can’t serve good traditional Créole cuisine. The Hilton Labriz does this in its Grann Kaz restaurant which is set in a beautiful 140-year old Créole House.

The carry zourit is great, and so is the a la daube traditional dessert with a glass of Rum Arrange. And if you want to learn to cook some Créole dishes yourself, you can sign up for a cooking class.

More Hilton Labriz Restaurants To Try:

  • Portobello – Italian cuisine which can be enjoyed under the stars.

  • Sakura – An Open South East Asian Kitchen from where you can see the moon rise over the lagoon.

  • Teppanyaki – Japanese show cooking under a pavilion on the edge of a lagoon and with beautiful mountain views.

  • Bar Lo Brizan – Perfect for enjoying sundowners with live music in the background.

  • Café Dauban – The Hilton Labriz restaurant to go to for themed nights, buffets, and cuisine from around the world.

  • Pizzeria – The poolside restaurant where you can grab a quick snack when hunger strikes during the day.

Top Things To Do At Hilton Labriz Seychelles Beach Resort

1. Treat Yourself At the Eforea Spa

Beautifully incorporated into the natural rock and jungle, this spa is even more removed from the outside world than the rest of Hilton Labriz. You can completely get lost in one of the secluded corners under the trees. However, if you want to invest in a massage, there are six couple treatment suites for spending special time together.

2. Go On a Guided Nature Walk

As a rich biodiversity hotspot, your Seychelles holidays can be so much more than a beach vacation. Hilton Labriz teamed up with the Island Conservation Society to create a hiking trail for guests to explore Silhouette Island’s remarkable unspoiled nature. Led by expert guides, the 4-hour Anse Mondon trail crisscrosses the island, stopping off at the Belle Vue viewpoint and allowing you to cool off in a secluded bay in the north of the island.

3. Fishing, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving

The Hilton Labriz is the only Seychelles beach resort in the region with a 5-star certified PADI diving center. If you weren’t convinced before, this is the place to discover the marine extravaganza provided by the barrier reef off the coast.

If you’d rather not don a full diving costume, you can always go snorkeling or fishing to see some extraordinary marine life. On a clear day, you’ll even see fish swimming in the turquoise water from where you’re standing on the beach.

Are you sold on spending your Seychelles holidays at the Hilton Labriz? I will certainly go back in a flash if given the opportunity to do so. It is a Seychelles beach resort with a private island feel where you can literally forget about the urban, busy world for the duration of your stay.
